Vinehold is a one-thumb arcade climber built around a single decision: when to let go. Swipe up to climb toward the anchor, swipe down to slide toward the tip, and tap either side of your panda to leap that way. Four gestures, no buttons on screen, nothing to learn beyond that.

At a glance

  • Four gestures and no on-screen buttons
  • The tip of a vine swings furthest; the anchor barely moves — that trade is the whole game
  • Four ways to die: the wall, the rocks below, the beetles, and the rot that follows you up every vine you touch
  • Five forests — Emerald Hollow, Amber Canopy, Bluewood Mist, Ashen Grove and Nightbloom, which is lit from below by the flowers themselves
  • Missions, ranks, a field guide, daily streaks and a ghost that re-climbs your best daily run
  • Share a canyon number so a friend climbs exactly the canyon you did
  • Plays offline, with no account and no in-app purchases

The one thing that matters

The tip of a vine swings furthest. The anchor barely moves at all.

So the tip is where the reach is — go there to cross a wide gap. And the tip is where the rock is — climb up to survive a wall that is swinging toward you. Every run is that trade, made a few hundred times.

What will kill you

  • The wall. Touching rock is instant. The vines swing into it and you have to see it coming.
  • The rocks below. Miss a catch and there is a long way down.
  • The beetles. They patrol a vine and cannot be passed.
  • The rot. Every vine you touch starts dying from the bottom up — and the part you were standing on goes first.

Five forests, and a canyon you can pass on

Emerald Hollow, Amber Canopy, Bluewood Mist, Ashen Grove and Nightbloom. Each is a complete look with its own light, its own weather and its own air.

Every canyon has a number, and the share card from a finished run carries it. Type a friend’s number into the canyon box and your phone draws the same canyon they climbed. The number identifies a level, not a person, and it is never sent anywhere.

FAQ

How do you control Vinehold?

Swipe up to climb toward the vine’s anchor, swipe down to slide toward its tip, and tap either side of the panda to leap that way. That is the whole control scheme.

Does Vinehold work offline?

Yes. It plays entirely offline and never looks up your location. A connection is only used for the adverts, crash reports, and checking Play for an app update.

Are there in-app purchases?

No. Coins are earned by playing or by choosing to watch a video. There is no account, and no leaderboard in this version.

What is the canyon number on the share card?

It is the seed that draws the canyon. Type a friend’s number into the canyon box and you climb exactly the canyon they climbed. It identifies a level rather than a person, and your phone draws it locally.

Privacy

Vinehold keeps your scores, settings and progress on your device. What leaves the phone — advertising, analytics, crash reports and anything optional — is written out in plain language, app by app, in the privacy policy. Questions go to the contact page.
